Illinois summer means festivals—practically every neighborhood and town celebrates something.

Major Chicago Festivals

Taste of Chicago

When: July Where: Grant Park

The granddaddy of food festivals. Sample Chicago's diverse food scene.

Tips:

  • Buy taste tickets (smaller portions, more variety)

  • Weekdays less crowded

  • Free concerts on Petrillo stage

Lollapalooza

When: August Where: Grant Park

100+ artists over 4 days. Major music festival experience.

Tips:

  • One-day passes more manageable

  • Arrive early for wristband pickup

  • Stay hydrated

Chicago Air & Water Show

When: August Where: North Avenue Beach

Free. Jets, aerobatics, Navy demonstrations.

Tips:

  • View from anywhere along lakefront (not just North Ave)

  • Arrive early for beach viewing

  • Friday practice day is less crowded

Chicago Blues Festival

When: June Where: Millennium Park

Free! World-class blues in a world-class setting.

Chicago Jazz Festival
